Anxiety Is Fuel for Achievement

“Anxiety has served me as a fuel for achievement, but it has failed me as a guide to getting well.” – To Be Made Well

I’m finishing up the first draft of To Be Made Well this week, including a chapter about how anxiety can keep us from experiencing the healing love of God.

One thing I’ve noticed about myself is how much energy I gain from worrying. It wakes me up in the morning and keeps me going all day long.

It feels scary to let go of the anxiety. And inconvenient. I won’t get as much done that way.

But God invites me to rest in peace, and I am learning how to trust that to live in the slower, inefficient, restful way of God is to live in beauty and goodness and hope.
