Pain Is Like a Flashing Light

Pain is like a flashing light, and sometimes, if I pay attention to the message it is sending, the light stops flashing.

My physical pain often goes away when I address the deeper spiritual or emotional message my body is trying to send me.

Sometimes it is a message to take care of myself (which might mean seeing a doctor or saying no to my to-do list). Sometimes I just need to admit that I am feeling stress or fear or doubt or sadness. Sometimes it is a message to rest or apologize or to sit in the presence of God’s love.

It is always an invitation to pray. It is always an invitation to connect my body to my spirit.
