Joy of Missing Out

Marilee recently taught me the idea of “jomo.” It’s the opposite of FOMO. FOMO is the fear of missing out. JOMO is the joy of missing out.

For better or for worse, she experienced some JOMO after her Covid shot kept her home from school for a day, and she spent hours cuddling with Peppa and watching Survivor.

But she also gave me a new way to think about missing out. I know these are trite sayings, but it goes back to that whole idea of how whenever we say “no” to one thing, we are also saying “yes” to another. Back to the idea that admitting our limitations allows us to welcome love.

Where can you experience some JOMO today?
