Family Hikes Are Like Family Itself

At least one of them complains every single time. Whether it is a stroll by a river or a hike up a mountain or something in between, the thought of walking and talking and being together as a family is not usually high on their lists of priorities. It also might be the most important thing we do as a family. 

Family hikes are a lot like family itself. 

There is laughter and sometimes contention and often mud and sweat. There are unexpected puddles to jump and the trail is rockier and steeper than we anticipated and then all of a sudden we emerge into a clearing and have a view of the whole sky.
