The bottoms of my feet just ached. At the time, things felt kind of shaky. It was early on in Covid, when there was so much uncertainty about the future. Those aching feet prompted me to think, and pray, about the ways I don’t trust in God’s love as the foundation of my life.
The reminder that God’s love is unshakable helped. Yes, it helped my feet feel better. But it also addressed my underlying fear that the world was shaking and would fall apart. It reminded me that I can trust in something deeper and more stable than politics and economics. It brought me to a place of firmer trust in God’s goodness and love.
(I should add that there was another time when the bottoms of my feet were aching every time I took a run. And I realized I was tying my shoelaces too tight.)
Body Focus: Feet
We stand on our feet, so our feet are like our foundation.
Bible Verse:
“He drew me up from the desolate pit, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.” Psalm 40:2
Prayer
What prayer could I bring to my body?
“God makes my steps secure.”
“God sets my feet upon a rock”
“I stand on the love of God.”
