One year ago, it would have been truly remarkable to run past a Black Lives Matter sign on a Saturday morning in my predominantly white, small town. Now it stands as a reminder of the truth of what it says.
This Black Lives Matter sign stands as a subtle question, too, to the hundreds of us who showed up last June for a demonstration after George Floyd’s death.
Did we mean it?
Are we still learning about racism in our country?
Are we still actively committed to our small part in undoing its harm and taking small steps towards healing?
