How can we receive healing?
- Pay attention to pain.
- Ask for help.
- Surrender to healing.
I had a chance to preach at our church last Sunday about the story of the blind beggar on the side of the road who is “saved/healed” by Jesus. He receives his sight, but he also receives the healing that comes through connection to God and community. He joins the disciples and follows Jesus. His healing/salvation (the word in Greek doesn’t have a direct translation into English, and it means more than either of these words on their own) is for his body, his soul, and his community.
We now have all sorts of medical technology that can help us with failing eyesight and other aches and pains. But we still need healing. Healing from shame and fear and guilt. Healing from chronic pain. Healing from loneliness and isolation and anxiety. Healing from injustice.
How can we, like this blind man, receive healing/salvation?
We too, can:
- Pay attention to pain.
- Ask for help.
- Surrender to healing.
