“What if hope’s not a rope you hold on to? What if it’s the arms that have always held you?” My new favorite song is Ellie Holcomb’s “Hope’s Gonna’ Find You.”
I love the idea that we don’t have to grasp and climb toward hope, but rather receive it as a presence that sustains and surrounds us in an eternal embrace.
Peter, William, and I got to see Drew and Ellie Holcomb in concert on Saturday. It was my favorite type of concert—intimate, personal, and with music that made me think and feel. Ellie and I met in person at Hope Heals Camp last year (I know… sorry… everything right now is going back to Hope Heals!), so it was especially fun to see her again in Connecticut!
I’m so grateful for the way Ellie holds her faith—honest, solid, welcoming, and still seeking answers amidst the hard stuff of this life. Not to mention she sings about all those things with one of the more powerful and arresting voices I’ve heard. They head to Texas next, so if you’re able to get tickets, I highly recommend it!
