In 2020, Peter happened upon a guide that we’ve found helpful in reviewing the year. (We’ve lost the source for this, I’m sorry to say! We think it was either Lectio 365 or Pray as You Go.) If you’re looking for a way to reflect on 2025 and enter into 2026 with intention, here are some selected questions from that initial list that might be worth pondering this week:
REMEMBER AND REJOICE
- What were the highlights and encouragements of 2025?
- What did I achieve?
- When did I experience joy and wonder?
- Who were the people who encouraged me?
- What have I learned?
LAMENT AND REPENT
- What have I found particularly difficult or painful this year?
- Where did I get things wrong this year?
- What do I want to leave behind as I step into the new year?
REBOOT and RESOLVE
- What I am looking forward to in 2026?
- Anything I am hoping for?
- Am I anxious about anything?
- Is there any new spiritual discipline or practice that God is inviting me to develop?
- Is there a verse, or a word, or a story for 2026?
